How To Test Your Water

For you to know what the pH and chlorine levels are you will need to know how to test the water.
This page should help you make the most out of your test strips.

Simply dip a strip into your pool water, remove immediately, wait 15 seconds and compare the colour pads on the strip with the standards printed on the bottle.

Testing the water is an important part of routine swimming pool maintenance. The BioGuard Dip and Read 4-way test strips are a quick and easy way to test for Total Bromine, Free Chlorine, pH and Total Alkalinity.

Right from the moment you fill your pool you should be testing your water everyday. This is to make sure that the water is safe for you and your family to use and the water is comfortable for people to swim in.

The need to test everyday is because all throughout the day and night the water will have debris in it that will “eat up” the chlorine as there will be bacteria on everything that goes into your pool (including you). The chlorine you add will then continue to be used up making your water safe until it has all gone. Testing everyday will help you decide whether or not your pool water needs more chlorine added. Remember: If you are not using bromine you will not need to read the top pad on the strip as this will give you a low reading due to the fact you are not adding bromine you are adding chlorine.
